Ready for a new adventure?

I know I always am!  What a cute idea dt member Sarinda has come up with for the new challenge at the Stampotique challenge blog.  What new adventures or projects are you currently thinking of?  I am constantly trying to move out of my creative comfort zone.  This can be a real challenge at times tho I love it :) For a long time I just used my copics on most everything..  I am currently trying to add more water color creations and finding out just how beautiful some of the watercolors and water color pencils are these days..
Here I used "old timey frog" biking down the path of color  on a post card  ..he looks content!  I hope you will join us for this fun challenge!  Thanks for looking

Viking girl!

New challenge at the Stampotique dt challenge blog= anything but a card.  I got so colorful on this one! lol  This is "Viking girl" sailing the high seas of color in my landscape size wc moleskin..
She was colored in copics and a white signo pen.  I put her on top this colorful sea and sky and spread a bit of gesso around her with my finger.  The background you ask??

I used some spray inks, stencils  gesso, and Imagine Crafts/Tsukineko Memento Meadowland markers.  Too much fun!  I did some doodling with both a black and white signo pens and some printing in between the colors.  I hope you will join us this time- easy peasy challenge- get in the draw for a gift card to the Stampotique store.  TFL!  Happy Hump day! *Linking to :  Paint Party Friday, Creative Every Day, Inspire Me MondayMake it Monday  and Create Daily at Ronda Palazzari's blog

Index Card A Day!

I bit the bullet so to say- joined the girls in the "Index Card A Day" challenge at "daisey yellow" blog.  I keep seeing all these great ideas and I LOVE the stress free, anything goes type art.  :)   It is a great way to get inspired and maybe even try out a few new ideas.  Thought I would whip out some of my gelli papers to start and practices faces different ways on top..
Pretty easy to start when you have fabby gelli prints to draw on! Love doing that..I was making up names for them as I went along.. lol
I used my Staedtler black pen and painted over with acrylics and some TH paints.
Its a start and I am really loving this challenge :)  Easy to take with me too when I am going some where.
Thanks for looking !

"Maria's challenge"

The sweet little " Maria" has proposed the new challenge over at the Stampotique dt blog to use/make faux metal in your creation.  I was going to link a few u-tubes here for info but really, if you just go to utube and put it in you will find the selection is large!  I choose this easy way...  Start with a simple piece of cs and cover it with Versamark, cover with emb powder (I used copper) and dry with heat gun.  Repeat this procedure 3 times over the layer cooling slightly after each.   Finally on the 4th time..while still hot..press your (Versamarked) embossed stamp in to the embossed covered cs.  Remove and let cool. You can sponge over image with a brown color ink if you wish.  Then cut out or whatever you wish.  I made two tags using the "beauty mosaic" image found here.
Ofcourse I cut the rubber up to make these..I had used it a long time before I made that decision :)  Now I am using it even more!
These tags were inked up by "cleaning" my left over ink up off  the craft mat and then stenciling with the "doors and windows" stencil (Jessica Sporn).  I punched some leaves and inked the edges and did a little sewing.
Below I used a tiny canvas and gessoed it black.  Then I painted with black acrylic over that and stamped "home sweet home" image into the embossed cs.  I cut it out and put the roof thru a folder and in to the cuttlebug. The "ground" is the scraps from the roof.
Just added a sentiment sticker and pauged over it.  The white moon is acrylic and the spots are my white signo pen.
Thought it was about time to start using these tiny canvas' I have had for so long :)
Thanks for looking and I hope you will take a minute to check out what the other dt girls did and maybe get in on the challenge to win a 30. dollar gift card to the store!

Use an envelope!

Hi there!  Absolutely LOVED this challenge given by the sweet Val on the Stampotique dt.
She says...
"I love the idea of using every day objects for art." This week, try creating an art project that incorporates an envelope - any shape or size, new or used. Just flip, fold, score, tear, ink, paint, stamp, doodle, embellish or keep it clean and simple - just have fun!

A while back I saw a very cool utube on how to make a mini envelope book here....
I am crazy about envelopes so I put this together:  (inside)
If you watch the video it is so darn easy and cute! Loved putting all the ephemra inside :)
Finally the cover..ofcourse the sentiment had to keep with the theme :)..

I used "cousin Carmie" on the front on a piece of old BG dp along with some stickers, vintage color inks, a tag and a TH die cut flower that I embossed and distressed with an vintage button in the center.  Thanks for looking and I hope you will join in- who doesnt love an envelope challenge?

A special Canvas :)

So,   I had this messed up canvas laying around here collecting dust.
Well, it went into the trash .. that is UNTIL I decided to give it another go..yep, had to fish it out of there and..
gesso the heck out of it..sanded a little...let it dry well.. great texture..whipped out some acrylic paints and really didnt know where I was going with this.  I havent bought dp in a very long time..but saw this pretty blue pad by "Kathy Davis " in JoAnns' and wanted to make something with it for my sis in law.  She LOVES her condo and she prays more then most people I know..for me too  :)  oh, and her favorite color is blue..her favorite saying is "home sweet home"..

Finished result after mixing acrylics, cutting dp, stenciling (Julie Balzer clouds) and using black and white signo pens.....and ofcourse a frame!
Best part ever??  The girl at the store framed it for me and total cost for ALL = $20 bucks!  Love it!
